Contact

Contact AmoSystems at info@fabianamos.com. Include your Mac model, macOS version and the steps that led to the issue. For display problems, a small sample file that you are allowed to share can help.

A diagnostic report can contain local paths and therefore your user name. Review it before sending and remove private information. Reports are never sent to us automatically.

How do I use NFOscope?

Open NFOscope once after installation and follow the instructions to enable its two Quick Look extensions. Then select a .nfo file in Finder and press Space. Finder thumbnails help you browse your collection.

NFOscope is a viewer: it reads the selected NFO files and leaves them unchanged.

Which files and colour schemes are supported?

NFOscope recognises valid UTF-8 files and uses CP437 for classic DOS files. This preserves the box-drawing and block characters found in scene and BBS artwork.

Preferences offers seven colour-scheme options for Quick Look. Automatic follows your Mac’s appearance. Finder thumbnails independently use a consistent light colour scheme.

What can I do if previews or thumbnails are missing?

Open the Quick Look check and repair assistant in Preferences. It checks the current installation and bundled extensions, points out known older app copies and explains activation in System Settings.

Choose an NFO file in the assistant to request a thumbnail from macOS. Test the full preview separately by pressing Space in Finder. A generated thumbnail does not prove which extension macOS used; the image may also come from a cache. Unavailable provider-selection information is reported as unknown.

What do the optional repair and cleanup steps do?

The app displays commands and can copy them to the clipboard after confirmation. It does not execute them. If you want to use manual repair, read the instructions first and run the commands yourself in Terminal.

Confirmed registration repair targets the two NFOscope extensions. It resets the Quick Look thumbnail cache for other file types too and restarts your user account’s thumbnail service; running thumbnail requests may be interrupted. Finder is not stopped and no app files are removed by registration repair.

Separate, optional cleanup of older QuickNFO components requires individual confirmation and a verified ZIP backup before an old component is moved to Trash. The current installation and system components remain protected. Check the displayed paths carefully.

Do my files stay on my Mac?

NFOscope processes the selected files locally. It has no account, advertising, analytics or cloud service of its own. Your colour-scheme selection is stored locally. See the linked privacy information for details about diagnostics, the clipboard and support.
